Keep Your Skin Safe During Spring Break

Spring break is coming up pretty quickly, and now that we’re winding down from the winter months many of us are looking forward to a little getaway. There’s something about taking a spring break trip that’s so incredibly necessary after the winter months. It’s a chance to take a break and head out to a little vacation – who doesn’t need that? If you’re planning to jet off to a warm-weather destination, odds are your skin could take a bit of a hit. We want to make sure you enjoy your vacation, but also keep your skin safe during spring break. So we’re sharing how to do exactly that.

Pack a Quality SPF Product

Of course, we have to start with SPF because it’s going to play a huge role in keeping your skin safe during spring break. When traveling, especially to warm weather destinations, the sun tends to be quite a bit more extreme than where you may live. Additionally, it’s likely that you’ve been indoors quite a bit the past few months with the winter season. So your skin now has to be well protected with quality SPF products. Here’s the catch, though: not all SPF products are created equally. Experts suggest looking for SPF products that protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays – this will ensure that your skin is being protected from both types of rays the sun projects onto the skin. In addition, it’s recommended that you use SPF products that have at least 30 SPF. This will keep your skin well protected from the sun. Finally, if you plan to be outside or in any type of water during the day, you’re going to want to make sure that the SPF you purchase is water-resistant to keep your skin well protected even while you enjoy various outdoor water activities.

Cover Your Skin As Much As Possible

We get it: when you’re on vacation you want to enjoy the warm weather and all that your chosen destination has to offer. But you also want to keep your skin protected, right? Covering your skin as much as possible is going to help keep your skin well protected. We’re not saying that you have to go outside in a turtleneck and long pants, but making use of a wide-brimmed hat, a pair of sunglasses, and an umbrella can do wonders to give your skin a break from the sun. Try to stay in the shade and cover your skin whenever you can, so that your skin isn’t suffering from direct UV rays throughout your vacation.

Stay Hydrated

We can’t forget to mention the importance of keeping your skin hydrated. When you’re traveling and outdoors, your skin is that much more likely to get dehydrated. And let’s face it, when we’re on vacation we tend to let things like staying hydrated slip out of our minds a bit. Make sure you make it a point to stay well hydrated throughout your vacation to keep your skin well nourished and protected.
