Ok, so if you’re a lady who loves getting her workouts in outdoors (especially in the summer), you’ve probably thought about what you need to do differently for your skincare. Or if you haven’t thought that, it’s time to! Since you’re working out outdoors, you’re outside for an extended period of time. Anytime we’re outdoors we need to think about what effect the sun and other elements can be having on our skin. While there are amazing benefits to exercising outside, there are also some factors you need to consider to make sure you’re adopting proper workout skin care habits to keep your skin as in shape as you are from your workouts.
Needless to say one of the biggest factors that comes into play when you’re working out outside is the sun. This is especially crucial in the summer months, but it’s also important in the fall and winter. While it’s easy to want to just roll out of bed (or whenever you plan to get your exercise), get in your workout clothes and head outside, you need to make sure you’re taking the extra steps and precautions to protect your skin from the sun. Covering your skin with proper clothes (as much as possible) is a great way to protect your skin. But you’re also going to have to take the time to apply sunscreen to all the areas of your skin that are exposed. That even means your lips and hands.
We get it, in the summer you don’t exactly want to be wearing a ton of layers and clothes when you’re trying to get your exercise outdoors. There are a lot of great clothing items designed to help protect your skin from the sun. But also considering little things like wearing a hat or visor and sunglasses to protect your face, these can make a huge difference in your skincare when you work out outside because they’re very crucial to protecting the delicate skin on your face.
In addition to protecting your skin from the sun when you exercise outside, you’re going to want to make sure you’re consistent about your typical skincare routine. Since it’s likely you’re going to sweat more when you’re working out outside, your skin can begin to produce more oil that can lead to breakouts. So it’s important you’re not skipping any important steps to your workout skin care routine you do daily, and not skipping out on exfoliating a couple times per week. Exfoliating is going to be a huge factor that eliminates a lot of the bacteria or dirt buildup which can develop on your skin not just from sweat but from environmental factors from being outside more often.
If you’re someone who loves working out outside, make sure you’re taking the time to care for your skin properly – your skin will thank you in the long run!
