The seasons are about to begin changing from winter to spring, and with that comes a change in the weather. We’ve gotten through the winter season, which always brings a different set of challenges for our skin. But as the seasons change, the weather has an impact on our skin in different ways. We’re going to begin experiencing more sun and wind, and we know you’re tired of your skin being negatively affected by these elements. So we’re sharing how you can start protecting your skin from spring sun and wind.
Keep Your Skin Moisturized
As the heat from the sun gets more intense and the wind starts picking up, it’s essential to make sure that your skin is well moisturized. Often, when we experience skin that becomes dry and chapped from the wind, it’s because we don’t have enough moisture in our skin. To prevent that, make sure that the moisturizer that you’re using on a daily basis is working with your skin type. If you have a lightweight moisturizer that you use in the summer, you may want to hold off on that until the wind aspect slows down a bit. You’ll want something that’s fairly creamy to lock in the moisture so your skin isn’t as affected by the wind. Additionally, our skin tends to be even more affected by the sun when it’s too dry – so the moisturizing step is going to help protect from both weather elements.
Don’t Leave Without SPF
While sun protection is essential regardless of the season and weather, as the sun starts to become more intense in the spring months you’re going to want to make sure that it’s a part of your daily routine. Applying an SPF moisturizing product to your skin every morning before you leave the house is going to play a huge role in really helping to protect your skin as the weather changes. If you want to take things a step further, look for foundation and powder products that also contain SPF. Every little bit helps protect your skin and there are a lot of amazing makeup products that have SPF added right to them.
Cover Your Skin
Another way to really help protect your skin from the sun and wind? Cover your skin! It may seem obvious but as the weather gets warmer we’re all going to start opting to wear clothes that cover less of our skin. If you find that the sun is really getting more intense, as well as the wind – cover your skin as much as possible. This doesn’t have to mean that you’re wearing winter clothes in the spring months but it does mean that wearing sleeves and hats (for example) can really work wonders on protecting your skin.
Of course, we can’t forget to mention the importance of keeping up with your consistent skincare routine. Cleansing, toning, moisturizing and exfoliating are going to help keep your skin healthy and happy – allowing them to be less negatively affected by environmental elements.
